The Baltic Exchange Dry Index rose 2% to 3,235 on Monday, a peak since November 1st and extending gains for an eighth straight session, driven by gains across all vessel segments. The capesize index, which tracks iron ore and coal cargos of 150,000-tonnes, increased 2.3% to its highest in nearly a month-and-a-half at 4,699; and the panamax index which tracks cargoes of about 60,000 to 70,000 tonnes of coal and grains, advanced 2.7% to 3,212, its eleventh straight session of gains. Among smaller vessels, the supramax index added 21 points to 2,452, its highest level since November 4th. Historically, Baltic Exchange Dry Index reached an all time high of 11793 in May of 2008.
